The DCS JF-17 Thunder guide needed an enormous amount of house cleaning, especially since I haven't really worked significantly on it since December... of 2019. This time, the update is focused on the air-to-ground radar, start-up procedure, air-to-air refueling and numerous fixes here and there. The page count increased from 390+ to 480+ pages.

The work is essentially finished on the Greenie board that is connected to the actual LSO station data, which provides live updates during the mission.
We are currently working on the functionality of crew tablets where you will be able to see mission briefings as well as check and change loadouts. In addition, the briefing officer can control the projected picture that is visible on the main screen and choose what to show on the auxiliary TV screen located above his head.
The Gazelle L version, currently equipped with the GIAT M261 20mm cannon and Telson 8 68mm rocket pod will see a number of significant updates in the next few months to make this platform more versatile and useful in the DCS ecosystem. Some of the updates will be aesthetical while others will expand its capabilities.
In the past months we have started work on making the L’s weapon pylons modular. This means you are no longer forced to carry the Telson 8 launcher and the GIAT as your standard loadout. Instead, you will be free to choose to fly without weapons attached or from an expanded number of armament options in the loadout screen or the rearm menu. Going with the mentioned modularity might just open the door to merging a number of DCS SA-342 variants of which there are currently 4. While working on the modularity update, we are also investigating improvements in regards to multicrew. Work on this is still very much in progress and will not yet be available in the next DCS update.
Work has been completed on an option to take the doors of the SA-342L off, which besides being aesthetically pleasing, gives you an unprecedented outside view. Taking the doors off (and putting them back on) can be done through either a mission editor option or through the ground crew menu while on a mission. This feature is ready to be released in the upcoming patch.
Nonspecific SA-342 variant updates
By popular demand we have also finished the implementation of the purely aesthetic dipole antennas that can, again, be attached or detached from the armament screen in the mission editor as well as in the rearm menu while on a mission and are thus completely optional. The dipole antennas are iconic for the UK’s Westland Gazelle’s. The new FLIR camera shader has been implemented for the Viviane targeting camera and the first batch of high-quality community liveries have been integrated. The first batch includes liveries for Cyprus, The Netherlands, France and Portugal.
Bug fixes this round include, among other things, a long overdue fix for a bug that caused the Gazelle to disappear completely when killed in multiplayer, not rewarding points nor satisfaction of a confirmed kill. The complete list of bugfixes and additions will be posted when the patch drops.

In the coming Open Beta update, the DCS: Syria map size will increase eastward by 250 km to Deir ez-Zor airbase in Syria. A large section of the Euphrates River Valley in the eastern part of the map will be included, as well as parts of western Iraq to include H3, H3 Northwest, H3 Southwest and Ruwayshid airbases. You can also look forward to the Ataturk Dam and Şanlıurfa International Airport in Turkey.
Also be on the lookout for the abandoned dirt airfield east of Sayqal AirBase and Tal Siman military base located to the north of the city of Raqqa. The Kharab Ishk helicopter base, located on the territory of the Lafarge factory, At-Tanf military base on Syrian-Iraqi border, and the oil facilities in Deir ez-Zor area are also included.
The focus on the map update is to better support historic AH-64D missions during the war on ISIS.
Kompletní předělávka průvodce Tigerem od Chucka Owla:
The F-5 guide has been needing a complete overhaul for a long time. Well, the wait is now over. I've put the old version in the shredder and started anew, trying to put to good use what I have learned in the recent years. Hopefully, the document will be much more useful to F-5 drivers. The page count went from 70 to 230+ pages. Special thanks to Enigma and Tricker for helping with proofreading. I hope you enjoy the read!
Added
Missions:
Option to disable the use of Night Vision Goggles equipment (NVG) in the mission editor.
Liveries:
USN VC-10 Challengers, 1988.
Quality of Life:
The A-4E-C can now be operated by many new countries. Liveries have been edited to match, Malaysia to the TUDM livery, for example.
Several new single input (momentary) bindings, and continuous inputs for AFCS Heading Select Pull-to-Set Knob.
Waypoint names specified in the Mission Editor are displayed on the kneeboard. Included missions have been updated to make use of this.
Fuel and aircraft loadout information are displayed in the kneeboard. This page automatically updates if the aircraft is rearmed or refueled.
Fixed
Features:
Ground handling improved for greater control using differential braking (cleaned the oil out of the brake drums).
Improved pitch stability and more correct low speed/high aoa handling.
Systems:
Altimeter updated to use more realistic realistic barometric calculations.
AN/APG-53A Radar AoA Compensation Switch now properly affects returns from ships. A/G mode uses the same monte carlo sampling for beam shape, taking a weighted average of intensities to determine the range.
APC light now turns off once the system engages (thanks pohlinkzei).
Fuel system getting no longer gets stuck in flight refuel mode. 3-position fuel system switches default keybinds now cycle between available positions.
Fixed IN RANGE lamp no longer flickers when MASTER TEST pressed (thanks nima3333).
Weapons and Loadouts:
CBU-1/A, CBU-2/A and CBU-2B/A Cluster Dispensers now dispense an accurate number of bomblets with a minim amount of performance impact.
Missions:
A-4E-C now properly represented by an A aircraft icon representative of the aircraft's role.
Unlimited fuel support in the mission editor works (thanks nima3333)
Quality of Life:
Up/down mouse click behavior for 3-position switches that were inverted so that all such switches behave identically.
Hemisphere information on waypoint coordinates on the kneeboard now display properly on Nevada and Normandy maps.
Corrected documentation URL files.
Changed
Systems:
AN/ARN-52 TACAN volume provides a better response across available knob position range.
CP-741/A steady gunsight position must be established to receive accurate raging information. The computer now accounts for ejection velocity improving accuracy in some regimes.
Weapons and Loadouts:
Changed MK-77 napalm canisters to have a cluster effect which is much closer to actual napalm.
More realistic MK12 guns charging and clearance: Guns can be armed and safed a total of 3 times before available charging nitrogen is depleted. The gun arming and safing when these charges are dispensed is audible. The ground crew performing a rearm will replenish nitrogen charges.
More realistic MK4 HIPEG Gun Pods charging: Gunpods will now respond to charges only when their station is readied before engaging the gunpod switch to the CHARGE position. Setting this switch to CLEAR clears all gunpods on the aircraft, until the ground crew rearms the aircraft.
Fixed wheel brake default keybinds to a more comfortable LCTRL+W and LALT+W, to make differential braking easier for keyboard users and to be in accordance with more DCS modules. As a result, the Emergency Stores Release Handle (Jettison) has been reassigned to LCTRL+J.
Quality of Life:
4k- and VR-friendly asset for the loading screen. (thanks Tuuvas)
New mission briefing screen.
Kneeboard manual updated. Unified kneeboard font sizing across in-game dynamically generated kneeboard pages.
We are happy to share with you the second one of the series of videos produced and narrated by Redkite, this time about taxi, takeoff, flight and landing in the Mirage F1CE. We hope you like it!
