This week, we are pleased to share improvements to our new Forward Looking InfraRed (FLIR) system that will be used for the AH-64D and other targeting pods and thermal imagers used in aircraft in DCS. We are currently completing the dynamic thermal textures required for the huge number of units and ground objects, and progress is good.
For air, land, and sea units and terrain objects, we are developing special thermal textures with several channels that allow heat signatures to adjust based on the activity of the unit, time of day, ambient air temperature, and more. For example, when the engine is started, the engine compartment and exhaust system begin to heat up. After driving, the undercarriage, transmission, wheels and tracks also heat up. Guns and launchers also cool down smoothly with inactivity.
This will be implemented for modules that use modern FLIR sensors, such as the AH-64D, F-16C, A-10C, and F/A-18C

As engineering and programming of systems on DCS: Eurofighter progresses, TrueGrit Oliver Michel's work on the new Eurofighter cockpit model draws to a finish! The cockpit has been modelled by using a mix of photogrammetry and more traditional measurement techniques taken from real active duty Eurofighters as reference. This will yield a highly accurate visual representation of this modern fighter, especially in VR!
Systems development will continue throughout this year in tandem with the new artwork as we work to complete our most complex project to date. The Eurofighter is slated to release after the F-4E, which will launch later this year. 💥
